Our Moxon vises which are portable and very simple to use will allow you to cut dovetails and mortise and tenon joints anywhere, even on your kitchen table. These vise screw kits, crafted from solid hard maple, are fast, smooth and will provide you with years of enjoyment. Since one of the first tools that a woodworker should have in their shop is a sturdy and functional workbench, that's where we focused our initial development efforts, namely by designing and building the finest wooden vise screws and related components available for your workbench. You’d be surprised how readily low viscosity resin can splash and end up in weird places.Lake Erie Toolworks has been in business since July 2008 designing, building and selling the finest quality woodworking tools available. ALWAYS WEAR PPE! This includes goggles or safety glasses at the very least. You will continue to have increasing fun if you understand that some of these resins are nasty. It is amazing that such a “runny” material can harden so well! Have fun. This called “post-curing” in the industry. So, once you have achieved initial “set” – the resins have crosslinked and are thumbnail hard – it is safe to raise the temperature which really helps final crosslinking and aids in achieving the hard finish you want. You should not see ANY bubbles as a result! Ignore this advice and you will get a honeycomb! This way the said gases will be contracting and will pull your nicely warmed resin into the wood pores. If you have warmed your workpiece outside – o yourself a favor – take it INDOORS and allow it to start cooling. BUT – because your workpiece is warming, it is also expanding as are the gases bound in the wood grain. Specifically- it is nice to work with a warm sun at your back. Resins are bound by temperature “rules” – the warmer it is – the less viscous they become ….BUT – the warmer they are- the FASTER they cure. It is important to be mindful of ambient temperature- the temperature of the space you are working in – and the surface or substrate temperature- the temperature of your workpiece.
